was my third trip to the Cookes Peak collecting area and the second
visit to this location. The Cookes Peak location is an easy
destination off of I-10 and contains a wealth of
collectable minerals and rocks. The most famous part of this area
is the Fluorite ridge mining location. Besides fluorite there is
also carnelian, quartz points, psilomelane, and various colors of
jasper and rhyolite to be found. Well worth a rockhound's time. |
