??
Membership renewal time! ??
This is
a reminder to check the mailing label on your last issue of the 'Tips
and
Trips". The date next to your name gives the month and year
through
which your dues are paid. If it is past that month and year,
please
renew by mailing an updated membership form and a check to the post
office
address. If you are past two months of the date, please remit
$25
instead of the renewal of $20, as your dues are delinquent.
We
don't
want to lose you from our membership, but we will have to drop you from
the mailing list and the email list if your dues are not current.
If you have
any questions regarding GMS membership status or have changes in
mailing
address, telephone number, or email address, please notify me atmembership@gamineral.org or
mgm5258@netzero.net

I
would
like
to thank those members who have sent in their renewals to date and
encourage
everyone to be prompt at doing so when that time of year rolls
around.
Please remember that after two months you will stop receiving the Tips
and Trips. At that point you will be asked to pay $5.00 in
addition
to your $20.00 renewal fee to reinstate your membership. You
can
see the benefit of sending in your renewal the month before your
expiration
date! We hate to see anyone's membership
interrupted.
If
you do not
know your membership renewal date, feel free to contact me.
Those
who receive the newsletter by mail can find the renewal date printed on
the mailing label. If
your have sent in your membership renewal and your check has not
cleared your bank, please read on! I receive the applications
from someone who checks the GMS mailbox for me periodically.
After I process the applications I then send a collection of checks to
the GMS treasurer, who then gets them deposited. We do all this
by mail, as a rule, because we all live spread out in
Atlanta. But rest assured that if you are receiving emails
from the club and are listed in the newsletter that your membership is
good, your check will eventually be processed. Sorry, but this
all takes time.

I'm
quite pleased to see how many applicants have asked to receive the Tips
and Trips electronically. When a member receives the email version he
receives
his newsletter much sooner, receives it in color and saves GMS money
that
would be spent on printing and postage. Everybody wins. I
hope
that
more members will elect to go the electronic way. If you would like to
make the change, you can make a notation on an application when you
renew
or you can simply let me know anytime by phone, mail, or email and
I’ll
make sure to notify Jim Flora and Joan White of the update.
There
are a few
members who have asked to receive the newsletter both by U.S. Mail and
electronically. I encourage those of you who fall into this group to
help
out your Georgia Mineral Society and elect to receive only the email
version.
Every dollar saved on postage and printing is freed up to go toward the
building fund.
