EAST CAMP PARKING

Produced gold, silver, and lead from about 1880 through 1946.  There are many old mines and mine dumps in the 10-mile trend of mineralized quartz filled fissures and faults that comprise the Steeple Rock mining district.  The East Camp (Golden Nugget)  mine is at the head of Steeple Rock Canyon where we were able to collect massive pale amethyst in a mineralized quartz filled fissures and faults that run along the ridge line from where I am taking this picture.
