TENT SHOWS!.........
The Electric Park Kino Sports complex shows (formally of Congress Street) is great one with asphalt parking for your car and 20+ tents of varying sizes.  If your looking for lapidary equipment and tools, there is a Diamond Pacific tool tent, Graves Lapidary, M.K. Diamond Products, Crystalite corp for their cheap diamond laps, and Abrasive Technologies, Kent tools, and Alpha Supply.  If you've ever been to the Franklin, N.C. shows, you will recognize the mineral drums and  large tent of "Village Originals" and the "Nature's Bazaar" tent.   If you want some of the best petrified wood that can be found in the west, then Johnson Lapidary and Robertsons Rock Works should be your list of stops!

One of the reasons that you may want to visit this show on it's opening day is to find that special hand tool your looking for at Kent Tools, those really special deals at Village Originals, and the double keystone jewelry display supplies at Alpha Supply.   Go there a few days later and the great tools and display case deals will be long gone!  Crystalite Corp. has great prices on discounted diamond flat lap seconds in 8", 6", & 5" sizes.

The 2006 deals seemed few and far between at this years show.  Village Originals did have a few more minerals and a couple of more semi-bargains.  But for the most part, they are turning into just another bead dealer!   A LOT MORE small tent dealers this year selling all kinds of stuff.  Kind of made the show look more like a flee market than a rock show!

          2007

The new Learning Center opened in 2007 to show case several of the lapidary equipment dealers at the show.  The room consists of just the section of the tent that the sign is attached.  I was here on their first day and they were not quite set-up to do any hands-on demonstrations.   This was something that the equipment dealers had been doing in their sale tents anyway but now it brings it under one roof and gives them another place to demo their products.

Alpha Supply has this sale every year on all types of jewelry display products.  You would not believe how fast this stuff sells down.  By the end of third day of the sale, everything will be gone.  They don't even have all of their stock out in this picture which was taken on the first day of the sale.
