| PSEUDOMORPHS
- While there are no universally accepted definitions, a mineral that
has taken the shape of another mineral is called a pseudomorph ("false
form") More formally, any substance or structure of
definite or characteristic form which is represented by
another
substance to which the form does not properly belong (Frondel). The process of pseudomorphism may be mechanical, structural, or chemical in nature and result from changes in the physical and chemical environment during or after the period of initial crystallization. |
