Gold Panning and Picnicking in Georgia
Saturday, June 27, 2026
Trip Summary:
This trip had multiple fun things to do: pan for gold, enjoy a potluck picnic, and maybe even do a little tubing down a river! Members did all three and learned a little along the way. It is a beautiful place that holds a lot of meaning for GMS members thanks to the owner, George Ferris. Last year, GMS member Mike Pettis introduced us to George and his natural playground, and it has become a popular trip.
Many thanks to our gracious host George, and to Mike for getting the trip set up. Thank you to members who brought picnic goodies and followed all the rules. Thank you to Maria for sending me some photos. And, as always, thanks to Charles for arranging the trip!
Note: If you want to learn more about Castleberry Bridge and George’s shoreline projects, please see his website: https://adoptashoreline.com/
